LAHORE: Counter Terrorism Force on Saturday arrested 11 terrorists, who were planning to target key government installations.
According to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesman, explosives, weapons, grenades and maps of important buildings have been recovered from the terrorists.
The arrested terrorists were identified as Saif, Nafees, Israr, Haji Shah, Zubair, Aslam, Abu Bakr, Fida Hussain, and Fahad Saleem. The terrorists wanted to target an important government building in Lahore.
In the past one month, the CTD has arrested 34 terrorists during 242 intelligence-based operations in different cities of Punjab.
These operations were carried out in Lahore, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Narowal, Sargodha, Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock, Gujrat, Bhakkar and Rahim Yar Khan.
The spokesperson said that 11 highly dangerous terrorists of Fitna-ul-Khawarij and other organisations were arrested from Lahore along with explosive materials and maps of important buildings.
According to the CTD Punjab spokesperson, explosive devices, 28 detonators, 89 feet of safety fuse wire, bullets, weapons, a hand grenade, four IED bombs, mobile phones, prohibited pamphlets, and cash were recovered from the terrorists.
The spokesperson said that during 7536 combing operations this month, 637 suspects were arrested, while 235630 people were questioned in combing operations.
