Pakistan to grant visa-free access for nationals of 126 countries

ISLAMABAD: In a major policy shift aimed at boosting tourism and investment, the Pakistani government has announced visa-free entry for citizens of 126 countries. The decision was made during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The move is part of a broader strategy to revitalise the country’s economy and attract foreign investment. By easing visa restrictions, the government hopes to facilitate business travel, encourage tourism, and strengthen diplomatic ties.

Individuals from the designated countries will now be able to enter Pakistan without the need for a visa for business and tourism purposes. The government is also introducing a digital visa system to streamline the entry process.

In addition to visa liberalization, the cabinet approved several other key decisions. This includes the establishment of special courts to expedite cases related to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Denmark, and changes to the composition of the Privatization Commission Board.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed optimism about the economic impact of the visa policy change, stating that it would attract more tourists and investors to Pakistan. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to improving border management through the implementation of E-gate systems at major airports.
