Imran Khan has filed a petition for acquittal in the £190 million case following a Supreme Court decision on NAB amendments.

Moreover, the PTI founder’s lawyer argued that the case is invalid under the new NAB laws, which protect cabinet decisions.

The accountability court in Rawalpindi has adjourned the hearing on Khan’s acquittal plea until September 10.

In addition, this move follows the Supreme Court’s acceptance of intra-court appeals against the September 15, 2023, judgment that struck down key amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO).

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, had previously overturned the amendments made by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government, which altered the NAB laws.

Furthermore, the majority judgment declared nine of the ten amendments “null and void,” impacting Khan’s case.
