The Pakistan Nanbai Association has announced an increase in bread prices starting next week due to rising flour costs from new taxes.
The price of a 79 kg sack of flour has surged from Rs6,500 to Rs8,700, while fine flour has risen from Rs7,200 to Rs9,000. As a result, the prices of bread, naan, and paratha will also go up.
Red flour (pateeri) bread will cost Rs20, yeast white flour bread Rs30, and paratha and roghani naan Rs35.
Shafiq Qureshi, the Nanbai Association’s Central President, told a national daily that the Punjab government’s promise to provide cheaper flour at Rs6,500 has not been fulfilled.

He added that if fine flour prices rise further by the end of the week, bread prices could increase by another Rs5. Qureshi also highlighted industry challenges, including gas shortages and high utility bills.
The price of a commercial gas cylinder has increased from Rs10,000 to Rs12,500, with another hike expected next week.
