PUNE: Get ready to dust off your glowsticks, Bollywood fans! The iconic family drama “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” (K3G) might be making a grand return to theaters for a special re-release.

During the recent trailer launch for his upcoming film “Bad News,” director Karan Johar opened up about the trend of classic movie re-releases. He expressed his delight at seeing films like “Rockstar” getting a second life on the big screen, allowing a whole new generation to experience these cult favorites.

Calling the re-release phenomenon “fantastic,” Karan acknowledged how many of these films hold a special place in the hearts of viewers who grew up watching them.

But what about K3G, you ask? Well, Johar has a specific date in mind for a grand return. “I feel when K3G completes 25 years,” he stated, “then I think we should re-release the film.”

Here’s a fun fact: Karan Johar himself hasn’t seen the entire movie in 23 years! He admitted to only watching his films properly once they’re complete, with occasional glimpses of scenes and dialogues on social media keeping the memories fresh.

So, it seems we’ll have to wait a few years for the K3G re-release. But Karan’s enthusiastic about the idea of revisiting these special films on the big screen, just like what happened with Zoya Akhtar’s movies and “Rockstar.” His message? “We should constantly remind everybody that Hindi cinema rocks!”

Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, K3G achieved immense commercial success for its compelling story, stellar performances, captivating music, and emotional depth.

Mark your calendars, Bollywood fans! The return of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to theaters might just be the perfect excuse to revisit this larger-than-life family drama with all its music, emotions, and unforgettable performances.
