The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has initiated an anti-corruption inquiry against Judge Hamayun Dilawar and his family.

Judge Dilawar had recently delivered a verdict in the Toshakhana case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

According to media reports, the KP Anti-Corruption Department has requested detailed information on Judge Dilawar’s and his family’s assets from relevant institutions. KP government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif confirmed that the inquiry was initiated following complaints against Judge Dilawar.

Moreover, he stated that the investigation is in its preliminary phase and further action will depend on the evidence gathered; otherwise, the inquiry may be concluded.

In addition, the anti-corruption team has specifically sought details regarding family assets, including developmental projects in Union Council Mehmandkhel and a housing society built on family land in Bannu. Records from the Bannu Anti-Corruption Circle regarding the Dilawar family’s properties have also been requested.

In response, Dilawar’s family lawyer, Ahmed Saeed, criticised the move as an unwarranted act of retaliation. He asserted that the housing society is being constructed legally on family land and that development projects in Bannu, including bridges, were part of the provincial government’s annual development budget.

Furthermore, Saeed accused the PTI government of targeting the Dilawar family solely due to the Toshakhana case.
