MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia has deactivated her Instagram account following intense trolling over her appearance, which many fans have attributed to alleged cosmetic surgeries.
The decision to remove her social media presence came after a recent photo of Takia went viral, with numerous users commenting on her altered appearance.
In her last Instagram post, Takia shared an image of herself in a blue and golden saree, complemented by pink-toned makeup. Despite her efforts to present a glamorous look, many fans noted that she appeared “unrecognisable” in the photo. Her Instagram page now displays a message stating, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.” Although Takia has not confirmed undergoing any recent cosmetic procedures, the speculation was fueled by comparisons of her current and past appearances.
The viral photo prompted a wave of comments questioning whether Takia had undergone surgery. One commenter expressed disbelief, stating, “No way this is Ayesha Takia,” and suggested that the changes in her features were due to plastic surgery. Another remarked, “This is a real photo? How on earth?”
Earlier this year, Takia faced criticism for her altered looks during public appearances. In response, she shared a cryptic note on social media, stating, “You can’t control how people perceive your energy. Anything you do or say gets filtered through the lens of whatever they are going through at the moment, which is totally not about you.” She also posted a selfie with the caption, “Love and peace.”
Ayesha Takia first gained prominence with her role in the Salman Khan-starring action thriller Wanted. Despite her success, she has been largely absent from the film industry in recent years.
Reports suggest that Takia stepped back from the spotlight following her marriage to entrepreneur Farhan Azmi in 2009. The couple, rumored to have been dating since 2005, married when Takia was just 23. They welcomed a son, Mikail, in 2013.
Takia’s last film appearance was in the 2011 Hindi-language romantic drama Mod, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The movie featured Rannvijay Singh, Raghubir Yadav, Tanvi Azmi, and Anant Mahadevan in key roles.
