RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has urged overseas Pakistanis to stop sending remittances to the country from tomorrow (Sunday) until demands are met.
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala jail after meeting her brother Imran Khan, Aleema Khan said that Khan has put forward two demands including the release of unjustly detained workers and the formation of a judicial commission on May 9 and November 26 incidents.
“Imran Khan said that the government has no intentions to engage in talks with Pakistan Tehreen Insaf,” Aleema said, adding that Khan urged the overseas Pakistanis to halt remittances from tomorrow.
Moreover, she maintained, “the former premier assured to take his call back if the government agrees to negotiate on demands.”
Khan’s sister said that the PTI founder will be convicted in the £190 million case. However, she expressed confidence that the trial court’s convictions would be dismissed from high courts.
Terming the case ridiculous, she questioned: “Why is a fine being imposed for forming a welfare organisation?”
The development came after the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub claimed that the government was not serious about holding dialogue with the former ruling party.
Ayub said that the PTI’s negotiation team was not given access to meet the party founder in Adiala Jail.
