WEB DESK: The government has announced the formation of a high-level Joint Task Force Team (JTF) to investigate malicious anti-state propaganda circulated on social media platforms.
A formal notification regarding the decision has been issued, outlining the inclusion of senior officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and Military Intelligence (MI) in the Joint Task Force.
The Prime Minister’s Office emphasised that the JIT was established in response to recent acts of terrorism and sabotage. The team’s primary objective is to identify individuals or groups responsible for spreading false and incendiary content aimed at maligning state institutions and inciting chaos in the country.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, a coordinated campaign is being run on domestic and international media platforms to tarnish Pakistan’s image. This includes disseminating misleading allegations of human rights violations with the intent to provoke unrest and damage Pakistan’s reputation globally.
The JIT has been tasked with identifying the perpetrators behind the spread of fake images and inflammatory material on social media. It has been directed to ensure strict legal action against those attempting to destabilise the country through such propaganda.
This decisive step signals the government’s intent to safeguard national stability and hold accountable those engaging in anti-state activities online.
