ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday formed a task force to identify and take effective action against those involved in spreading chaos and disorder in Islamabad in recent days.
Chairing a meeting regarding the law and order situation in Islamabad, PM Shehabaz said that the task force will be headed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and will include Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and representatives from the security forces.
The task force will ensure the identification of miscreants involved in spreading chaos and violent incidents on Sunday to give them exemplary punishment as per the law.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the prime minister also decided to establish a Federal Anti-Riots Force to prevent future attempts to spread chaos and disorder in the country. It was also decided that the special force would be equipped with international-standard professional capabilities and equipment.
The meeting also approved the establishment of the Federal Forensic Lab with the advanced technology that will be used to investigate such incidents and gather evidence. Besides, it was decided to modernise the Islamabad Safe City project. It was also decided to strengthen the Federal Prosecution Service and increase its workforce.
PM Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that Pakistan was moving towards stability and development, adding that the enemies of the country’s development will never succeed in their nefarious designs.
