Magnitude 5.3 earthquake jolts parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A 5.3 magnitude Earthquake hit different parts of Pakistan including its capital Islamabad on Wednesday.

The earthquake tremors were felt in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province including, Peshawar, Swat, Malakand, Parachinar, Abbottabad, Khyber, Mohmand, Mansehra, Lower Dir, Hangu, North Waziristan, Charsadda, Swabi and surrounding areas.

According to the Richter scale, the earthquake’s epicenter was centered in the Hindu Kush mountain range of Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border Region at the depth of 220 kilometers.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) said that quake, at 10:15am local time, had a longitude of 71.19 East and a latitude of 36.51 North.

There were no reports of casualties or serious damage after the quake.
