One of the most popular Pakistani host Nadia Khan gave her opinion regarding the drama Barzakh, which recently came under heavy criticism due to it’s scenes depicting homosexuality.

In a show, Nadia expressed her admiration for the drama. She claimed to love it and said that this series is refreshing for everyone who has had enough of the saas-bahu soap operas.

She then praised the creators for their courage, adding, “It takes guts to write such a story.”

However, this was not well received and instead Nadia was criticised. Actress Mishi Khan voiced her displeasure with Nadia’s comments, and Pakistani fans also took to social media to criticise Nadia.

Amidst the controversy, the series’ director, Asim Abbasi, stood by his work. In a statement, he said, “With all due respect, if you find queer/non-heteronormative storylines ‘distasteful,’ please do not watch my content. Thank you.”
