A 33-year-old South African model, Tshego Gaelae became the first Black woman ever to win Mrs. World title at the 40th annual pageant in Las Vegas, USA.
“To God Be the Glory. Thank you so much for the love and support, I am beyond grateful and elated! My beautiful South Africa, the crown is coming Home.” Gaelae posted on her Instagram handle.
Mrs World International is a celebration of womanhood that provides an equal opportunity platform for married women to show off their ability and beauty to the world.
About Tshego Gaelae
Gaelae manages labour relations at a legal company in South Africa. We Are Our Children’s Keepers, her nonprofit organisation, provides kids necessities like school shoes, uniforms, stationery, and accessories. She is well-known for her work with victims of domestic violence and her advocacy on behalf of children and women.
It is pertinent to mention that Gaelae is the second South African to win Mrs World, following Candice Abrahams, who claimed the title in 2016.
Chidimma Adetshina, who was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria in 2024, made history in November during the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico City by being the first person from Nigeria or West Africa to place second.
