The United States has issued a security advisory for its citizens in Pakistan, urging them to stay away from large public gatherings and stay informed by following updates from local media. This warning comes in light of ongoing demonstrations across several cities, which are expected to continue until at least October 7.

According to the advisory, issued by the US Embassy in Islamabad and its consulates in Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar, large crowds and increased security measures, including more checkpoints, are likely to cause traffic congestion.

Additionally, the embassy warned of potential disruptions to mobile and internet services, which could extend beyond the expected end date of the protests.

US citizens were advised to exercise caution as peaceful demonstrations could quickly escalate. The embassy also highlighted that intercity travel could be affected, and movement of US mission personnel might face restrictions due to the fluid security situation.

The advisory further emphasised the importance of staying vigilant, advising citizens to leave areas if they find themselves near protests and to maintain a low profile. Moreover, the US mission recommended carrying proper identification and cooperating with local authorities during security checks.
