WEB DESK: In Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek, the reality of violence and attacks on Pakistani students has surfaced. Pakistani students say that the conflict began with harassment of Egyptian students by Kyrgyz students, leading to clashes after the reaction from Egyptian students.

Furthermore, Kyrgyz students attacked foreign students and incited violence on social media. Violence was also inflicted on boys and girls in the hostel.

On May 13, a fight broke out between local and foreign students at a hostel in Bishkek. Three foreigners involved in the altercation were taken into custody.

According to Kyrgyz media, on the evening of May 17, locals protested in the Chuy Karmajan Datka area, demanding action against the foreigners involved in the altercation. The head of the Bishkek City Internal Affairs Directorate requested to end the protest.

According to local media, the foreigners taken into custody later sought forgiveness, but protesters denied it and gathered in larger numbers. Several individuals were also taken into custody for violating public order.

According to Kyrgyz media, after negotiations with the head of federal police, the protesters dispersed.
