A chartered helicopter belonging to Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) crashed shortly after takeoff near the Shewa Oil Field in North Waziristan due to a technical fault.
The helicopter was carrying three foreign Russian pilots and a crew of 14 passengers.
According to sources, the accident resulted in six fatalities and eight injuries.
Initial reports suggest that the crash was caused by engine failure, and there are no signs of sabotage.
The helicopter experienced a technical malfunction shortly after takeoff, and while attempting an emergency landing, the tail rotor collided with the ground.
Investigation into the matter is underway.
