T20 world cup: Report reveals reasons behind Pakistan team’s poor performance

Pakistan Cricket Team Senior Manager Wahab Riaz submitted a detailed report to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday, addressing the team’s poor performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The report, which sources say was sent to Director Usman Wahla with contributions from team manager Mansoor Rana, highlighted several reasons for Pakistan’s early exit from the tournament.

Wahab Riaz pointed out critical issues in strategy and execution on the field. “The national team did not demonstrate the required level of skillful cricket expected at such high-stakes events,” he reportedly stated.

“There was a noticeable lack of coordination among the players, leading to ineffective implementation of game plans.”

The report specifically criticized the team’s demeanor during crucial matches, especially against arch-rivals India.

“The players showed a lack of coordination and passion, and seemed to lose their will to win, particularly in the match against India,” it noted.

To improve Pakistan’s cricketing prospects, Wahab Riaz suggested several measures. These included organizing more extensive training camps, increasing participation in domestic cricket events to enhance skills and fitness, and planning more tours to help players adapt to different conditions.

The PCB has acknowledged receiving the report but has not yet made any official comments on its content or implications for the team’s management structure.
