WEB DESK: Former star cricketer Wahab Riaz has reacted to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to dismiss him from the national selection committee, emphasising his dedication to Pakistan cricket.
In a statement shared on social media, Riaz expressed his commitment, stating, “I have served the game I love with faith and sincerity and have given 100 percent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.” The PCB confirmed today that Riaz, along with Abdul Razzaq, will no longer serve on the selection panel following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.
“It has been an honor to contribute as part of the selection panel, making collaborative decisions that were shared equally among the seven-member team,” Riaz remarked, reflecting on his tenure.
He expressed gratitude for the support he received and wished success for the future of the Pakistan cricket team.

The PCB has retained Mohammad Yousuf, Asad Shafiq, and Bilal Afzal on the selection panel, which includes the team captain and head coach.
Addressing reports of undue influence, Riaz denied any pressure tactics, stating, “I don’t agree with the statements about pressuring the selection committee,” adding that decisions were made collectively and documented in meeting minutes.
Following his removal from the selection committee, Riaz was also dismissed from his role as senior team manager due to reported disciplinary issues during recent tours.
Pakistan’s recent cricketing endeavors included tours to Ireland, England, and the T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States and West Indies, culminating in an early exit from the tournament’s group stage.
