LONDON: Pakistan’s opening batter, Saim Ayub, on Wednesday reached London for treatment, where Fahad Saleem, the first secretary at the Pakistan High Commission, welcomed him.
The left-handed batter has gone to London for the treatment of his ankle injury, which he sustained during the second Test against South Africa.
According to reports, assistant coach Azhar Mahmood is also accompanying Saim Ayub. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has arranged for sports orthopaedic specialists in England to examine Saim Ayub today.
In the test in which Ayub was injured, South Africa clinched a dominating victory over Pakistan by 10 wickets.
The second test match was held at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, claiming the series 2-0.
On the fourth day of the Test, the Proteas chased a mere target of 58 to win a two-match red-ball series in a dominating way.
Green Shirts faced a major blow during the game after Saim Ayub suffered a broken ankle while fielding on the first morning and had to remain unhurt and absent.
