Former cricketer resigns from PCB selection committee

Former cricket star Mohammad Yousuf has officially stepped down from his role on the national selection committee, citing “personal reasons” for his decision.

Yousuf made the announcement on Sunday through a post on the social media platform X, expressing his pride in having served the Pakistan cricket team. “Serving this incredible team has been a profound privilege, and I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan cricket,” he stated.

He also expressed his confidence in the players and wished the team success in their future endeavours. This change comes after a series of restructurings within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In March, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi introduced a restructured selection committee comprising seven members, all with equal voting rights, eliminating the position of a chairman.

The selection committee faced further changes in July, following the dismissal of Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq due to Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup held in May. After their removal, the committee consisted of four voting members and five non-voting members.
