The restaurants, cafes, and wedding halls will remain open in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from October 12 to 16, the district administration said on Thursday.

The district administration refuted media reports regarding the closure of due to heightened security measures for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

The district administration clarified that no orders have been issued by either the federal government or the district authorities regarding the closure of wedding halls, restaurants, or cafes.

Wedding halls will be allowed to continue their operations in accordance with the traffic police’s route plan.

However, there will be restrictions on all types of traffic along the summit route, as confirmed by the district administration.

SCO summit in Islamabad

The SCO summit, scheduled for October 15-16 in Islamabad, will bring together representatives from nine member nations, including China, India, Iran, and Russia. Chinese Premier Li Qiang is expected to arrive ahead of the event, making security a top priority for local authorities.

In preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, the Islamabad Traffic Police has introduced a special traffic plan to facilitate residents during the event. Over 585 officers will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic management throughout the summit.
