The district administration announced on Tuesday that water will be released from Islamabad’s Rawal Dam, urging residents, particularly those in vulnerable areas, to take necessary precautions.
With the water level at Rawal dam rising to 1,752 feet, authorities confirmed that the spillways will be opened on Wednesday, September 11, at 6 am. Precautionary measures have been put in place to safeguard public safety during the release.
Officials have warned residents to avoid urban river channels, as the water release is expected to increase the flow significantly. Those residing in low-lying areas have been advised to prepare for potential flooding and implement safety protocols.

In emergencies, residents are urged to contact the district administration by dialing 16. Livestock owners and farmers have been instructed to relocate their cattle to higher ground as a precaution.
To mitigate risks, river channels and bridges will be closely monitored for any changes in water levels. The district administration has assured the public that all necessary measures to manage potential flooding are fully in place.
