The Punjab School Education Department has implemented a strict ban on social media use by school heads and teachers, according to an official notification issued on Tuesday. The directive, in line with provincial government orders, mandates all educational authorities to enforce compliance with the new policy.
The department warned that any violation of the Punjab Government Rules of 1966 will lead to serious disciplinary action. This move comes amid broader efforts by provincial authorities across Pakistan to regulate the digital conduct of public officials, with a particular focus on law enforcement and educational staff.

Nationwide crackdown on social media use by public officials intensifies
In a related development, a new social media policy for police officials in Islamabad was approved earlier today, following directives from the Establishment Division.
Under this policy, police officers are barred from expressing personal opinions, sharing articles, or engaging in public communication without prior approval from the authorities.
Furthermore, officers are prohibited from posting photographs or videos while in uniform, inside government vehicles, or in government offices for personal promotion. The policy also strictly forbids the dissemination of sensitive or official information online, reflecting a nationwide effort to curb the misuse of social media by public servants.
