PM establishes 5-member JIT to probe ‘PTI’s SM campaign against institutions’

According to Dunya News, the PM has approved a five-member JIT to look into the PTI’s social media campaign against institutions.

According to the issued notification, the JIT has been formed under Section 30 of the Electronic Act 2016. The JIT will consist of the IG Islamabad, Director Cyber Crime FIA, Director Counter Terrorism Wing FIA, DIG Investigation Islamabad Police, and SSP CTD.

Moreover, the notification states that the JIT will identify individuals involved in the negative propaganda campaign on social media.

Furthermore, the committee will also make recommendations for punishing the offenders. The Islamabad Police Headquarters has been designated as the JIT Secretariat.
