Schools across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will remain closed on October 7 as over 139,000 primary school teachers have announced a province-wide strike. The decision follows the government’s move to scrap their proposed upgradation plan, sparking outrage among educators.
The All Primary Teachers Association (ATPA) has declared that schools will be locked in protest, with street rallies and demonstrations taking place outside press clubs in major cities. The association has also planned a massive sit-in in Peshawar on the same day.

During a meeting chaired by ATPA President Azizullah, the protest strategy was outlined. He stated that the government’s failure to address the teachers’ demands had left them with no choice but to take drastic action. “We will lock all schools and take to the streets. The government will bear the full responsibility for this situation,” Azizullah said.
The strike will result in the closure of more than 25,000 primary schools, with thousands of teachers expected to gather in Peshawar for what is being termed a “historic sit-in.”
Teachers have vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met, with further actions being considered if the government does not respond positively.
