Another cross-border love story has emerged, a Pakistani woman named Mehwish has crossed the border into India’s Rajasthan to be with her married lover, Rehman, whom she met on Facebook.
Mehwish was first got married in 2006 to a Pakistani man but they later divorced after having two sons.
After her divorce, she connected with Rehman, an Indian transporter working in Kuwait, and the two decided to get married in 2022. Just three days later, they were married via video conference. The couple later had an in-person marriage ceremony during Mehwish’s Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah in 2023.

Mehwish travelled from Islamabad to the Wagah border with her family on July 25. After her documents were checked by Pakistani and Indian authorities, she entered India on a 45-day tourist visa. Rehman’s family picked her up and brought her to their village, Pithisar.
However, according to Indian media, her arrival has caught the attention of intelligence and security agencies, which are now investigating her.
Rehman’s first wife has claimed that he had not legally divorced her and that his second marriage was unauthorised.
