Senior Indian sports journalist Vikrant Gupta has expressed doubts about the Indian cricket team traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

In a video that has been widely shared, Gupta suggested that the ICC Champions Trophy might use a hybrid model, with many of the matches played at neutral locations.

Gupta said, “There is a ‘99.9% chance’ that the Indian team will not play in Pakistan due to ongoing security concerns and diplomatic issues.”

He stressed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) should come up with a solution like the one used for the Asia Cup to address these issues.

Gupta pointed out, “With the current issues and tight timeline, it’s very unlikely that India will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The ICC will need to find other solutions because this situation is not like the Asia Cup, where there were many talks about changing the venues.”

Rumors suggest that Sri Lanka and Dubai are being considered as possible locations for the Champions Trophy. Originally, Sri Lanka was favoured because of Dubai’s extreme heat, but recent weather changes have made Dubai a more feasible choice for hosting the tournament.
