Mobile phone services will be suspended in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during Muharram.
Police officials have asked the home ministry to suspend mobile services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. This is to help maintain security in the province during this time.
The federal government has also approved the deployment of armed forces across Pakistan to ensure safety during Muharram. This decision was made after requests from authorities in Sindh, Balochistan, KP, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The central government, under Article 245 of the Constitution, has authorized the use of army and civil armed forces to maintain peace.
Ashura, the day of observance, will be on July 17 (Wednesday). The federal government has announced a two-day holiday for this occasion.
