KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has reduced the syllabus for the upcoming annual examination of matric and intermediate for the current session 2024-25.
During the meeting of the sub-committee of the Sindh Education Department’s steering committee, it was decided that the annual exams of classes 1 to 12 will be based on only 75 percent of the syllabus.
The meeting further decided to start the upcoming academic session 2025-26 in schools on April 1, while the academic year for colleges will begin on August 1, 2025.
According to the meeting minutes, winter holidays will be observed from December 22 to December 31. This decision was made given the shift in the academic session in Sindh from August 1 to April 1.
The meeting also stated that most universities announce scholarship programs in August, and therefore, actions are being taken to assist students with their admissions and to protect their academic year.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of College Education, Secretary of Universities and Boards, Director General of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions, Chairman of the Matric Board Karachi, Chairman of the Intermediate Board Karachi, Chairman of the Intermediate Board Mirpurkhas, Director DCAAR Jamshoro, Director of School Education Primary Karachi, President of Zindagi Trust Shehzad Roy, Tariq Shah Chairman of Private Schools Management Association, Dr. Najib Memon School Association Hyderabad, and others.
