WEBDESK: Talha Anjum has been named Spotify’s most-streamed local artist of 2024, ending Atif Aslam’s impressive three-year reign at the top.
As 2024 comes to a close, Spotify Wrapped 2024 has been released, showcasing the year’s musical highlights and the tracks most listened to both locally and globally.
Spotify Pakistan also shared the list of the most-streamed local artists in Pakistan for 2024 on social media, revealing that, following Talha, Umair holds the second position, while Atif Aslam takes the third spot. Completing the top five local artists are the timeless Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, dubbed the ‘Shahenshah-e-Qawwali,’ and the versatile Talhah Yunus.
Artists such as Abdul Hannan, AUR, Hasan Raheem, and Maanu also made their mark among the most-streamed acts, showcasing the growing diversity in Pakistan’s music preferences.
For international artists, Arijit Singh maintained his dominant position as the most-streamed artist in Pakistan, followed by Pritam, Karan Aujla, Shubh, and Sidhu Moose Wala. Notably, Talha Anjum, Umair, and Atif Aslam also featured in the overall top 10, ranking sixth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.
Annual Khalid, who became the first Pakistani woman featured on Spotify’s RADAR earlier this year, emerged as the country’s most-streamed female artist of 2024, solidifying her reputation as a trailblazer.
Spotify Pakistan also shared the list most streamed local tracks in Pakistan 2024, showing Maanu and Annural Khalid’s collaboration, Jhol, topped the charts as the most-streamed local song. It was closely followed by Wishes by Hasan Raheem, Umair, and Talwiinder, and Tu Hai Kahan by AUR. Other popular songs included Sadqay by Aashir Wajahat, NAYEL, and Nehaal Naseem, as well as Abdul Hannan and Rovalio’s hits, Bikhra and Iraaday.
Internationally, Anuv Jain’s Husn was Pakistan’s most-streamed song by a foreign artist, with Jhol taking second place. Jain’s Jo Tum Mere Ho rounded out the top three.
In album rankings, Umair’s ROCKSTAR WITHOUT A GUITAR stood out as the top local release of the year. Talha Anjum’s Open Letter and Imran Khan’s Unforgettable also secured prominent spots, alongside classics like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Reformed and Asim Azhar’s BEMATLAB.
