The provincial government of Punjab has decided to introduce sanitation charges across the province. According to details, the provincial government will levy sanitation charges of Rs300 for 5 marla houses and Rs500 for 10 marla houses.
Furthermore, 10 marla houses in rural areas will be charged Rs200, while houses larger than 10 marla will have to pay Rs500. During a meeting in Lahore, CM Maryam Nawaz directed officials to reduced the proposed sanitation charges by more than 50%.
Moreover, officials proposed to increase water charges for private sector hydropower projects. However, CM Maryam rejected the proposal.

She stated that increasing the charges will enhance the provincial government’s revenue but it will also result in expensive electricity.
During the meeting, approval for the Green Pakistan Programme and including the Sports Complex Gaushala Lahore Project in the Annual Development Plan 2023-24 was granted.
