GUJRAT: A woman and her partner were killed by her husband in Gujrat after she filed for divorce. The victim, Taj Begum, originally from Rajanpur, had been living in Dhirke after separating from her spouse, police reported.

Authorities have registered a double homicide case against the husband. However, the suspect is still at large, according to local police.

In a separate incident in Karachi, a woman was killed by her ex-husband for demanding Haq Mehar, the mandatory payment given by a husband to his wife at the time of marriage.

Fatima’s body was found earlier, and her death was initially reported as a suicide. However, police investigations revealed she was strangled to death with a cloth by her ex-husband, Nauman.

The police have arrested Nauman, who has confessed to the crime. Both incidents highlight rising concerns about violence against women in domestic disputes.
