According to a national daily, citing sources, former DG ISI Lt-Gen (R) Faiz Hameed, who is now under military detention, has been in touch with PTI founder Imran Khan.
The sources added that despite Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9, former DG ISI Lt-Gen (R) Faiz Hameed and Khan maintained contact through various channels.
These connections reportedly included communication through the “jail network,” as well as interactions with certain politicians and other intermediaries.
When questioned about whether the recent arrest of former Adiala jail deputy superintendent Muhammad Akram is related to the communication channels between Imran Khan and Gen Faiz, the source confirmed, “Yes.”

The report added that Gen Faiz was repeatedly warned by military authorities about his objectionable post-retirement activities but did not cease. Multiple well-placed sources confirmed Gen Faiz’s direct or indirect contact with Imran Khan.
Imran Khan has distanced himself from Gen Faiz’s arrest, calling it an internal army matter. His legal team, which visited him in Adiala jail on Tuesday, reported that Khan stated his party had no involvement in the arrest of Lt Gen (R) Faiz Hameed.
Khan alleged that Gen Faiz’s replacement by Gen Bajwa was a political maneuver involving Nawaz Sharif.
