Belgian Woman Alleges Rape in Islamabad; Police Investigate Conflicting Claims
A shocking incident involving the alleged rape of a foreign woman has surfaced in the federal capital.
The woman, identified as Sylvastina Jannsen, a 28-year-old Belgian national, was found bound hand and foot in Sector G-6 of Islamabad.
Initial reports indicate that Jannsen, who also goes by the name Farwa, claimed she had been subjected to sexual assault for five days.
Moreover, according to the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, the victim was discovered near St. 33, Saddar Road, G-6/1, after passers-by alerted the authorities around 9:15 a.m. today. The police promptly took her to the Polyclinic Hospital for a medical examination, and the report is currently awaited. In her statements, Jannsen alleged that she was raped multiple times by a Pakistani national and his associate.
However, police reports indicate that Jannsen’s statements have been incoherent and inconsistent. The victim claims to have arrived in Pakistan for tourism in January 2024 but lacks any identification or travel documents to corroborate her story.
In addition, her fluency in Urdu and Punjabi has raised questions regarding her nationality and the authenticity of her claims.
During the investigation near the recovery spot, a local resident named Tameez-ud-Din came forward with information. He claimed that in October 2023, a mentally unstable woman, asserting to be a foreign national, had come to his house.

Tameez-ud-Din reported her to the Aabpara Police Station, which then took her to the Women’s Police Station and later to Edhi Home. He also attempted to contact the Belgian Embassy but was unsuccessful as the woman did not possess any documents.
Upon seeing Tameez-ud-Din, Jannsen accused him of being the rapist who confined her. Consequently, the police arrested Tameez-ud-Din, collected his DNA samples, and are currently examining them for further investigation.
In an effort to confirm the woman’s identity, the police reached out to the Belgian Embassy with the details provided by Jannsen. However, the embassy responded negatively, stating that no Belgian national with those details had visited Pakistan.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern, highlighting the need for stricter measures to protect women and ensure their safety in the capital city. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to ascertain the woman’s true identity, nationality, and the veracity of her allegations.
