LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced a major health initiative to provide free medicines in all districts of Punjab.
During her visit to the Central Medicine Warehouse in Maraka, she kicked off the distribution process and ordered the immediate functioning of Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan warehouses.
CM Maryam supervised the dispatch of medicine-laden trucks and inspected medical equipment, hospital supplies, and furniture. She also reviewed the quality of medicines and the warehouse’s temperature regulation systems to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Improved healthcare
Under the project, nine central warehouses have been set up, storing over Rs10 billion worth of medicines.
Supplies, including modern medical equipment worth Rs7 billion and other essential hospital items, will be sent to district hospitals. The aim is to upgrade healthcare facilities and improve patient care across Punjab.
Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan assured that the medicines are stored at standard temperatures and transported efficiently. Hospitals will also receive advanced medical equipment, furniture, and disposable supplies to enhance services.
