WEBDESK: The Anti-Terrorism Court of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has sentenced former Chief Minister (CM) Khalid Khurshid to 34 years in prison for threatening security forces and election commission officials.

The court also imposed a fine of 600,000 Pakistani rupees on him.

The case against Khurshid involved serious threats made during a rally on May 26, 2024, where he allegedly warned security officials and the Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as the Chief Election Commissioner, of dire consequences.

The court proceedings took place under the Anti-Terrorism Act, with a case filed at the City Police Station in Gilgit.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court issued orders for the arrest of Khalid Khurshid and his transfer to jail. The Inspector General of Police has been instructed to execute the arrest, while the Director General of NADRA has been directed to block his national identity card.

Khalid Khurshid had been absent from the court proceedings and has reportedly gone into hiding since the case began.
