KARACHI (Azaad English): A van collided with a trailer near Qazi Ahmed town of Sindh’s Shaheed Benazirabad District on Saturday. At least 5 passengers died while 10 others were injured in the accident.
According to the police, the van was travelling to Lal Shehbaz Qalandar’s shrine in Jamshoro District, Sehwan City.
The Sindh highway accident occurred when the van collided with a trailer due to excessive speed while trying to overtake. The accident took place on Amri-Qazi Ahmed Bridge Byepass Road.
Initially, rescue teams and police reached the spot and shifted two bodies and the injured to Qazi Ahmed Taluka Hospital. The critically injured individuals were sent to the Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women in Nawabshah. Three of those individuals were pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the Sindh highway accident.
Fatal road accidents occur frequently in Pakistan. The main reasons include speeding and disregard for traffic rules.
Earlier this month, an SUV driving on the wrong side of the Indus Highway crashed into another car near Jamshoro’s Sann Town.
Last month, 12 people were killed in a road accident in Karak district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The fatal road accident in Karak involving a 22-wheeler trailer and a passenger coach happened on the Indus Highway at Amberi Kalle Chowk.
