RAWALPINDI: At least 19 terrorists [Khwarij] were killed in three separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province on 6-7 January 2025, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation was conducted by the Security Forces in the general area of Matani, Peshawar District, on the reported presence of Khwarij.

“During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, and resultantly, eight khwarij were sent to hell,” the statement read.

Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in the general area of Baizai, Mohmand District, where eight militants were killed by security forces.

In the third engagement in Karak District, security personnel effectively engaged with khwarij as a result of which three of them were sent to hell, the ISPR said.

During an intense fire exchange, according to the ISPR, three security personnel including Lance Havaldar Abbas Ali, 38, a resident of District Ghizer, Naik Muhammad Nazir, 37, a resident of District Skardu, and Naik Muhammad Usman, 37, a resident of District Attock, embraced martyrdom.

“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area,” it added.

Last month, at least 15 terrorists, including Afghan Taliban fighters, were killed while attempting to infiltrate Pakistan’s Kurram and North Waziristan districts from Afghanistan.

Media reported on Saturday that a group of 20 to 25 terrorists from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), with support from the Afghan Taliban, launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistani border posts. The attackers used heavy weapons.

Pakistan’s security forces responded swiftly and foiled the infiltration attempt. They launched a counterattack, killing over 15 terrorists and wounding several others.

The operation forced the Afghan Taliban to abandon six border posts. Reports suggest significant losses and damage on the Afghan side, with further casualties likely.
