RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 13 Khwarij [terrorists] in three separate encounters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, the military’s media wing said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the ISPR, the security personnel conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area Jani Khel of Bannu District on December 25-26, 2024. The exchange of fire resulted in the killing of two terrorists.
In another intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan District, five Khwarij were effectively eliminated. The ISPR added that eight terrorists were also injured in the operation.
However, during the exchange of fire, Major Muhammad Awais, 31, a resident of District Narowal, “who was leading his troops from the front, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom.”
In a third encounter in South Waziristan District, troops successfully neutralised six Khwarij, while eight khwarij were injured.
“Sanitization operations are being carried out to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the ISPR said that security forces killed 13 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the South Waziristan district on December 24-25, 2024.
