The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology has ordered the launch of the Beep app within three months. This app will help ensure secure communication for government employees.

The decision was made during a meeting led by Syed Aminul Haq. Currently, government messaging is done through WhatsApp, which the CEO of the National IT Board (NITB) has identified as a security concern.

The Beep app, developed two years ago, will provide a more secure option for official communications.

During the meeting, committee member Ahmed Atiq expressed concerns about the lack of a formal policy for official communication, highlighting the risk of sensitive documents being leaked.

The Additional Secretary of IT pointed out that many officials bypass their official email accounts, underscoring the importance of adhering to established communication channels.

The Beep app will be launched for civil servants first, with the Ministry of IT and NITB handling the rollout. Ahmed Atiq suggested that employees should also share their personal email and social media accounts to improve security.

The goal is to replace WhatsApp with Beep for official messages to keep sensitive information secure.
