In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rs. 280 million worth of medical gloves intended for Bajaur and North Waziristan have reportedly gone missing from the District Health Officer’s stores.

Documents reveal that gloves valued at Rs. 280 million were purchased for Bajaur and North Waziristan in February and March, part of a total procurement cost of Rs. 638.3 million.

The Directorate General of Health Services authorized payments for a substantial order of gloves, totaling Rs135.6 million for 6 million gloves intended for the District Health Office (DHO) in Peshawar. However, the storekeeper at DHO Peshawar has reported that the gloves were never received.

Furthermore, under the Top-Up Programme, gloves valued at Rs67.8 million were supposedly procured for Bajaur. Yet, records show that 3 million of these gloves are unaccounted for in the DHO Bajaur’s inventory.
