Actress Nimra Khan has shared a traumatic account of narrowly escaping an abduction attempt in Karachi.
In a deeply emotional video posted on her Instagram account, Khan revealed the terrifying details of the incident, which occurred outside a hotel in Phase 8 of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
Khan recounted that she was waiting for her car in the rain when three men surrounded her and attempted to kidnap her. “I am Muslim proudly, but I am sorry being Pakistani, I [don’t know] what should I say,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the video.
Visibly shaken and tearful, Khan described the ordeal, questioning why a taxpayer like herself is not safe in her own country and expressing her frustration over the dangers faced by women in Pakistan.
“I was waiting for my car. Three men came and tried to kidnap me… I had phones in my hand and bags on my shoulder. I was waiting for my family that was stuck in traffic,” Nimra Khan explained. The actor added that the situation unfolded while she was standing outside due to the rain.

Khan detailed how the assailants attempted to grab her, placing a “loaded gun” against her stomach. She began shouting for help, but despite the presence of four security guards nearby, no one responded.
“No one listened. Four guards were sitting in front of me [but] no one listened. I protected myself. My feet got hit really hard. I pushed the bike… and ran,” she recalled, adding, “I could have been shot from the back.”
The actor managed to escape by running in front of a moving vehicle, whose passengers came to her aid. The hotel’s staff also intervened and took her to safety.
In her video, Khan called herself a “victim” and questioned the safety of women in the country. “I want to ask you all if you can send your sister, your sister-in-law, your mother, your wife, and your daughter outside the house safely? [While] proudly living in your country? No, you can’t. I can guarantee you that you can’t,” she asserted.
Khan also criticised the nation’s celebrations ahead of August 14, questioning how such festivities can take place when the lives of ordinary people, particularly women, are under constant threat. “I am an actress and a taxpayer. I pay taxes for this country. Why do I pay taxes?” she asked, adding that she could hire personal security instead of “wasting” money on taxes.
In response to the Nimra Khan kidnap incident, South Deputy Inspector General of Police confirmed that Khan had not filed a formal complaint. However, South Superintendent of Police is currently investigating the matter.
