Veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, celebrated Kapoor’s performance in Animal and predicted his rise as Bollywood’s “next Shah Rukh Khan.”
The year 2023 marked a record-breaking phase for Hindi cinema, with four major films crossing the Rs500 crore milestone at the domestic box office, and one exceeding Rs600 crore. Among the high-grossing films, two featured Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, while one starred rising star Ranbir Kapoor, cementing his place as a formidable box office contender.
Adarsh, during the interview, remarked, “Anyone can judge me for it, but I loved Animal. Sandeep Reddy Vanga is a genius, and Ranbir Kapoor is the next Shah Rukh Khan, if I may say so. Shah Rukh has his unique position, but Ranbir Kapoor is something extraordinary.”
Adarsh further added that Kapoor’s acting caliber, especially when compared to peers like Ranveer Singh and Kartik Aaryan, sets him apart as today’s leading talent, emphasising, “He is the best we have.”

Shah Rukh Khan dominates, Ranbir Kapoor rises
When asked to name the current top five superstars in Indian cinema, Adarsh highlighted only two names, cementing Shah Rukh Khan’s unchallenged legacy.
“Shah Rukh Khan is number one to number five domestically, and number one to number 10 overseas,” Adarsh affirmed, adding, “He is the biggest star we have in our country.” He went on to name Ranbir Kapoor as the only other actor with the potential to reach similar heights, saying, “The second actor whom I see has the potential to reach that particular position is Ranbir Kapoor. What an actor!”
As the momentum continues, Shah Rukh Khan is set to return with King, alongside Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, and Abhishek Bachchan, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and co-produced by Siddharth Anand, followed by the much-anticipated Pathaan 2 and Tiger vs Pathaan.
Meanwhile, Kapoor’s upcoming projects include Love & War, Ramayan, Animal Park, and Dhoom 4, projects that may further establish his status as the industry’s next top star.
