Afreen Afreen queen Momina Mustehsan came forward to defend fellow artist Aima Baig following critical remarks made by singer Sara Raza Khan.
Appearing on the show Zabardast with Wasi Shah, Khan voiced her concerns about the industry’s emphasis on vocal talent, candidly suggesting that some singers might reconsider their careers.
In her critique, Khan stated, “If we take away the option of autotune, then Aima Baig is not a singer,” a comment that has sparked widespread debate among fans and musicians alike. Khan also remarked that while she might cast actress Mehwish Hayat in an item song if she were a filmmaker, she would never invite her to sing.

Mustehsan responded to the controversy with a supportive message on Instagram, standing by her friend with the statement, “Aima sings very well, and so does Sara. Neither of them need autotune.”
By publicly defending Baig, Mustehsan not only reinforced her friend’s vocal abilities but also underscored the need for respect and support among artists in a competitive industry.
Aima-Momina friendship
Aima Baig has frequently spoken about her close friendship with Mustehsan, referring to her as her “only real friend” within the music scene. Earlier this month, Baig dedicated a heartfelt Instagram post to Mustehsan, writing, “This post is for—probably my only REAL friend in my field of work.” Mustehsan responded warmly, affectionately calling Baig her “chota bhai (younger brother),” a term reflecting their strong bond amid a challenging environment for artists.
