Colour specialist Pantone has announced Mocha Mousse as its 2025 colour of the year.

The Pantone Colour of the Year is a colour trend forecast for the consumer, which means that it’s intended to be used for consumer products and designs created for clients.

About Mocha Mousse

Mocha Mousse evokes luscious desserts, rich coffee and cacao. The colour is all about comfort.

According to Pantone Colour Institute, “Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational an luxe.”

For the first time, Pantone will use the colour globally—at events in New York, Shanghai, London and other cities. Its first stop: an event held with Pantone’s official unveil partner, London Eye. The Eye has lit up with the colour, shining on through the night.

Pantone has declared a Colour of the Year since 2000, when it named Cerulean Blue. The annual colours have inspired Met Gala ball gowns and art direction in films and technology.

In the wake of 2020’s coronavirus pandemic, Pantone selected two colours for 2021 – contrasting shades of yellow and grey – to reflect global uncertainty.

More recent selections include Viva Magenta in 2023, which is described as “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time.” In 2024, Peach Fuzz described as “a light, fruity tone that conjures peace and serenity.”

Hailey Bieber, Sofia Richie and Alexa Chung are already embracing the upcoming Colour of the Year.
