WEBDESK: Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat celebrates her 37th birthday today. She was born on January 6, 1983, in Karachi. Her mother Rukhsar Hayat was also from showbiz and was a TV actress.
Mehwish has made a significant mark in the entertainment industry.
Mehwish began her career as a model and stepped into acting with the drama Maang in 2010. Her talent quickly earned her a spot among the leading actresses in Pakistani dramas and films. Mehwish also ventured into singing and has showcased her skills in this field as well.
Mehwish Hayat, also in an old interview, hinted at joining politics because of Imran Khan. She said that she got interested in the politics lately and she wants to do work for Pakistan.
She has worked in many movies like Teri Meri Kahaniyaan, London Nahi Jaunga, Load Wedding, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, 3 Bahadur, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, and Actor in Law. Her famous dramas include Dil Lagi and Unsuni.
Notable Achievements
Internationally, she gained recognition for playing the role of Aisha in Marvel’s TV series Ms. Marvel. In 2019, the Government of Pakistan honoured her with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her contributions to the arts.
Moreover, Mehwish Hayat was awarded the Pakistani cinematic icon award by Filmfare ME launch in Dubai in 2018. She was awarded Pride of Performance in Oslo, Norway by Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
Mehwish Hayat also has a beautiful voice and has performed the song Tu Hi Tu in Coke Studio. She has also undertaken several sold-out music tours in the US, performing in arenas across the country.
In 2019, she was appointed as the Ambassador for the Rights of the Girl Child by Pakistan’s Ministry of Human Rights. As an Ambassador for the global charity Penny Appeal, she has worked to address education issues in Pakistan and has campaigned to build schools in rural Sindh.
She also sits on the board of the Pakistan National Council of Arts and is a member of the official Oscar selection committee in Pakistan.
Mehwish Hayat also worked with Indian Singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh in a music video for the song Jatt Mehkma.
