Kangana Ranaut has announced that the release of her first solo directorial project, Emergency, will be delayed as the film awaits certification from the censor board.

The film, in which Ranaut portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was originally scheduled to premiere on September 6.

On Friday, Kangana Ranaut took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news, expressing her disappointment and thanking her fans for their patience and understanding.

She wrote, “With a heavy heart, I announce that my directorial Emergency has been postponed. We are still waiting for the certification from the censor board. The new release date will be announced soon. Thanks for your understanding and patience.” The film also features Anupam Kher and the late Satish Kaushik.

Public reaction

The announcement prompted a range of reactions from users on X. One supporter wrote, “No need to feel sad, Kangana Ranaut. We are with you; whenever it releases, we will be watching and supporting you for sure!”

Another user encouraged her to persist, saying, “Don’t get bogged down, sister. Fight against injustice. Always with those who seek justice.” However, not all responses were supportive; one user dismissed the film as a “super disaster movie,” showing mixed feelings about the delay.
