Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, according to reports from TMZ and various media outlets. The formal petition was submitted to the Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 20, 2024. Representatives for both parties have yet to issue statements.
Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, first married in Las Vegas in July 2022. Their marriage followed a highly publicized romance from the early 2000s. Dubbed “Bennifer” by the media, their earlier relationship featured a notable engagement marked by a large pink diamond ring. The couple’s initial engagement in 2003 was called off, and they separated a few months later.
Following their split, both Lopez and Affleck went on to marry and divorce other partners. Lopez’s previous marriage was to Marc Anthony, while Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner. The two rekindled their relationship approximately three years ago, leading to a renewed engagement and subsequent marriage.

Their second wedding was held in a larger ceremony in Georgia on August 20, 2022, the anniversary of their initial Las Vegas wedding. During their relationship, Lopez and Affleck starred together in two films: “Gigli” (2003) and “Jersey Girl” (2004). By the time “Jersey Girl” was released, their engagement had already ended.
Recently, Jennifer Lopez referenced their relationship in her album “This Is Me … Now,” a follow-up to her 2002 release “This Is Me … Then.” Affleck appeared in Lopez’s film “This Is Me … Now: A Love Story,” which premiered on Prime Video in February. The couple frequently appeared together to promote their projects and attended various events, including the Golden Globes earlier this year.
In May 2024, Lopez announced the cancellation of her summer tour for “This Is Me … Now,” citing a desire to spend more time with family and close friends.
