Indian fans will soon have the chance to watch the blockbuster film The Legend of Maula Jatt as it is scheduled to release in cinemas across India on September 20, 2024. The film, which premiered in Pakistan in October 2022, is a remake of the 1979 classic Maula Jatt.
Sources close to the production suggest that ZEE Studios may handle the film’s release in India. The film features an ensemble cast including Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick, Ali Azmat, Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Nayyar Ejaz, and Shafqat Cheema, and tells the story of Maula Jatt, a feared warrior driven by a quest for revenge.

However, the film’s release has faced some opposition from Pakistani extremists threatening to block its screening. This release is notable as it follows only two other Pakistani films released in India in recent years: Khuda Kay Liye in 2007 and Bol in 2011, both directed by Shoaib Mansoor.
The blockbuster movie was co-written by Nasir Adeeb and Bilal Lashari, with Lashari also serving as the director. The film reimagines the iconic characters of Maula Jatt and Noori Natt, originally portrayed by Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi in the 1979 version, with Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi stepping into these legendary roles.
