The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has publicly disclosed the names of various federal and provincial government departments that have failed to clear their outstanding dues.
This announcement was made on Tuesday, highlighting the significant debts owed to the company. According to a spokesperson for Lesco, the Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) top the list of defaulters, accumulating a staggering Rs6.67 billion in unpaid bills.

Other notable departments falling behind in payments include the Water and Sewerage Authority Lahore (Wasa), which owes Rs3.6 billion, and the Punjab Irrigation Department, with debts amounting to Rs699 million.
Additional departments listed include:
- Lahore Ring Road Authority: Rs232 million
- Pakistan Railways: Rs519 million
- Civil Aviation Authority: Rs168 million
- Public Works Department (PWD): Rs99 million
- Cabinet Secretariat: Rs81 million
- Geological Survey of Pakistan: Rs62 million
- Pakistan Administrative Staff College: Rs35 million
- Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation: Rs32 million
- Punjab Police Department: Rs735 million
- District Government Lahore: Rs535 million
- District and Tehsil Hospital Lahore: Rs467 million
- District Government Kasur: Rs367 million
- Lahore Development Authority (LDA): Rs283 million
- Mayo Hospital: Rs278 million
- Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA): Rs257 million
- Punjab Prisons Department: Rs255 million
- Ganga Ram Hospital: Rs201 million
The mounting arrears from these departments has raised concerns about the impact on Lesco’s operations and its ability to provide uninterrupted power supply. The company has emphasised the need for these departments to settle their debts promptly to avoid further financial complications.
